Prodigy

Prodigy math

Classroom Use:

In my classroom, I would use Prodigy throughout my units because it allows for individualized work that is content specific to whatever unit the class is learning. If the teacher needed to do small group work, the rest of the class could be doing their work on the Prodigy website. This allows the work to be stored electronically and have recoreds of each student. Also, I could plan ahead and have assignments on their calendar for what problems needed to completed on certain dates.

Framework:

Operations and Algebraic Thinking

A. Represent and solve problems involving addition and subtraction

  1. Use addition and subtraction within 100 to solve one- and two-step word problems involving situations of adding to, taking from, putting together, taking apart, and comparing, with unknowns in all positions, e.g., by using drawings and equations with a symbol for the unknown number to represent the problem.

Objective:

SWBAT complete Addition one step word problems within numbers to 100 using their chrome book.

Purpose:

The teacher will be able to give the students specific problems to work on depending on what the student is struggling with. By viewing their data which is recorded through the website, the teacher can the create specific lesson plans for the class. It helps teacher give individualized problems to students but also know if they should reteach certain content.

Using the Tool:

Students will have to access the website either using iPads or Chrome books. Using this tool allows each student to work simultaneously on work that is individualized. Also the students will have interest with the website because the math is made into a game with objectives.
